The Roman Camp Hotel

Set within its own gardens and woodlands on the banks of the River Teith the Roman Camp Hotel is the perfect base from which to explore the stunning surrounding countryside. If you are looking for some activity there is so much to do on the doorstep, be that walking, hill climbing, canoeing, horse riding, cycling, fishing or playing golf. The picturesque local golf course at Callander is a short walk away from the hotel and horse riding stables a mere ten minute drive. Fishing can be organised on our own stretch of the River Teith or on other local rivers. For those just wishing to relax, the hotel provides a peaceful setting in lovely gardens in which to enjoy delicious food in either of our two restaurants or a leisurely afternoon tea in our drawing room.

Festive Fun We went to the Potting Shed for their festive menu as a pre-Christmas treat on the 23rd and it did not disappoint. Restaurant was lovely and cosy and the food… sublime! We had the duck rillette and baked camanbert then cod and venison, all of which was cooked to perfection and generous portions. Staff were attentive yet discreet which I think is great. We asked if we could have our dessert course in the hotel which they very kindly obliged so we got to enjoy our cheese, coffee and mince pies in the Drawing Room beside a roaring fire. The hotel looks beautiful all dressed up for Christmas, the trees are absolutely stunning, I think we managed a picture with them all. Would highly recommend… we’re looking forward to coming back in the New Year.

Outstanding This is a beautiful hotel. The public rooms are stunning - especially at this time of year with the Christmas decorations, candles and roaring fires. The hotel is set in 20 acres of gardens beside the River Teith but is still easy walking distance to the town centre. Our room (a standard double) was nicely furnished, spacious, warm and comfortable. The food at dinner and breakfast was excellent. We found the staff to be friendly a d helpful. As you can tell, we really liked this hotel! We can’t wait to return.

Wedding Anniversary Dinner We've got the joy of a December anniversary, and when you combine this with the festive menu at The Roman Camp, you're in for a perfect evening. On arrival, we were brought to the lounge and served a glass of red and a glass of prosecco with some canapé, which were stunning! After relaxing over our nibbles and placing our festive dinner orders, we were led to the dining room and served our perfect Christmas Dinner. Both started with scallops (awesome) and followed with traditional turkey and trimmings (similarly fabulous). Julie had the dark chocolate tart for dessert while I enjoyed the delicious cheese selection. All accompanied with our prosecco and a delightful shiraz. Off to the library after dinner to enjoy a port, a Baillies, and a couple of perfect coffees in front of a roaring fire. You'll go a very long way to find a better way to celebrate anything in a more perfect setting than The Roman Camp. Marion, Eric, and your team, we love you!
